Various industrial rocks and minerals have been
the subject of professional assignments undertaken by Mackay &
Schnellmann Pty Limited.
Examples of recent assignments on industrial minerals
are:
WESTERN AUSTRALIA, 2001
On behalf of a major Western Australian company, an Independent
Geologist's Report has been prepared on a number of industrial and
precious metal properties throughout Western Australia. These include
a limestone deposit to the east of Kalgoorlie. Exploration is at
an early stage but the eventual product is intended for sale in
the Eastern Goldfields.
CHRISTMAS ISLAND, 1995
Advice was given concerning the Christmas Island phosphate deposits
on the selection of RC drilling contractors to carry out exploration
drilling of phosphate deposits and stockpiles on Christmas Island.
Consideration also had to be given to terms for the possible purchase
of the drill rig upon the completion of the programme.
CHRISTMAS ISLAND, 1995
An estimate was prepared of the in situ and stockpiled phosphate
resources along with the preparation of maps and plans indicating
the phosphate material available for recovery. The competition for
land utilisation had to be taken in to consideration including National
Parks and environmentally sensitive areas. Advice was provided on
drilling and on grade control sampling techniques and on the implementation
of integrated GIS and DGPS mapping systems.
WESTERN AUSTRALIA, 1994
An Independent Geologist's Report and Valuation were prepared for
a Western Australian company for inclusion in a prospectus. A major
asset of the company was a property covering a large high grade
graphite deposit near Geraldton. An associate consultant mineral
processor assessed the considerable body of data available on the
results of laboratory test work. Other properties held by the company
were prospective for gold and were located in the general Kalgoorlie
area.
BURUNDI, 1992
The management of a major exploration programme on phosphate deposits
was undertaken for a state mining company. Exploration techniques
included RC and core drilling of primary apatite associated with
a carbonatite intrusive. A resource assessment was completed. The
eventual product was intended for use in the fertilizer industry.
This assignment was undertaken in conjunction with IMC, our United
Kingdom associate.
